Review of 21 Jump Street (2012) by Grant H — 03 Nov 2014
Mostly I don't mind buddy-cop movies with the undercover mix, but crudeness and insane language in the process is troubling for me to enjoy.
In 21 Jump Street, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill present their unique charm and ability to overcome their roles with supreme acting, but it's a shame it's caught in the middle of all this - I've never been a fan of crude comedy, even though I have of cop movies, crudeness seems to ruin moments that make cop movies an exciting experience to the big screen. I found the awkwardness of the crudeness to be strangely overwhelming and absurd, as I would say about most crude comedies and this is certainly no exception. I gave it minutes and minutes, and ultimately seconds to find some conciliation and it's place of decently, but it's ridiculously baptised by all of this crude stuff that's repeatedly written on the script - and the sequel, 22 Jump Street, wasn't much exciting either and the script fills up more pointless areas and is written more excessively than it's predecessor, so the stupidity basically multiplies in the sequel. They should have left at the first movie.
Tatum and Hill are fine actors - just not in this movie.
