Review of 21 Grams (2003) by Miakoda G — 17 Jun 2009
You can tell the effort that was put into this movie by both the cast and crew. The fact that it was shot almost completely handheld was awesome. However, there are some things about this movie that I don't know how I feel about.
Firstly: I enjoyed the crazy structuring as I watched the movie, it kept me compelled to see how these seemingly impossible events would all end up taking place. But I have to wonder what the movie would be like without this editing style, would it be very good? Sure it was emotional and intense, but I also sometimes felt like Inarritu was just manipulating the audience by making everything as melodramatic as possible.
So I don't know. It wasn't terrible. I just didn't fall in love with it. My favorite thing was the title.
