Review of 21 Grams (2003) by Morné O — 27 Aug 2009
"21 Grams" : (3.5 / 4.0 stars).
Life goes on whether God likes it or not. A man questioning his faith, after accidently murdering a man and his two daughters, finds out the real reprocussions of what it means to feel guilty. While the wife grieves over her family's death, another man is receiving the heart of her husband's. The newly revived man begins his search for the person who saved his life.
The movie begins with one of the very last scenes, making the audience want to watch the entire movie to find out how this came to be. We also get glimpses of the future events to occur as the past events are shown in out-of-order sequences. But this idea of "jumping" storylines makes the film have an unbelieveable feeling of excitement and thrilling suspense. Not many movies are able to pull off this feat, but this one nails it.
A certain fresh tomato for the usual movie-goer. A must-see film before you lose 21 grams of your own...
