Review of 21 Grams (2003) by Rameshwar N — 07 Oct 2011
I was furious with this movie after a good half an hour into it. It was similar to Magnolia in terms of disconnection from the viewer after sometime. The entire movie feels like it was chopped to 100 scenes, shuffled in random and presented straight to the audience.
A husband and his two little girls are killed in a road accident. A man is dying in wait for his heart transplant. The guy responsible for the accident resorts to religion for redemption. They all meet together in varying circumstances.
With the cast presented, it is pre guaranteed of brilliance. The assorted screenplay ploy didn't work for me, but I'm sure it must have acquired a few fans. It has a great story with a terrific cast which didn't needed the gimmick.
