Review of 21 & Over (2013) by Jerry A — 22 May 2014
Watched this not expecting much and we absolutely loved it. The plot is tried and tested but what I don't think most reviews have really touched upon is the charm of this movie.
The characters and the actors have so much love to them - it really feels like they had a brilliant time making this movie. The dynamics between the characters is great and the whole film is very 'aware' of itself, which creates some of the best lines of the film. On this note, the film might not be as slick as 'the hangover', but it is subtly far, far better if you're intelligent enough to pick up on some genius one liners. If you laugh at a pie in the face, watch the hangover. If you get the self aware sub-plots portrayed by the likes of Family Guys, South Park etc - give this movie a go. If you don't like it, it's purely because you're not aware enough of all the social stupidities rife in our everyday lives. This, despite it's occasional flaws (i.e. not being mega slick) is one brilliant film.
