Review of 21 (2008) by Anonymous User — 28 Dec 2011
Robert Luketic's 21 is a highly entertaining film. It reminded me a lot of The Rounders which is another movie I enjoyed with Edward Norton and Matt Damon. In this film the game is blackjack not poker but the cast is also great with Kevin Spacey playing the MIT professor who recruits the school's best students and forms a team that is talented in counting cards and memorizing signs to beat the dealers in blackjack.
Jack McGee plays the inocent and brilliant (in a Will Hunting kind of way) Ben Campbell who dreams of going to Harvard med school. He has been accepted to the school but he doesnt have the money therefor he is seduced into forming part of the team only as a means to the end.
But life in Vegas isnt easy to leave behind and Ben's life has become exciting for the first time in his life. Ben also falls in love with his teammate Jill Taylor who he has always been fascinated with (the hottest girl of the school) played by the lovely Kate Bosworth.
The movie is highly entertaining and smart with good performances from the entire cast which makes this film one of the top 5 movies Ive seen this year.
