Review of 2046 (2004) by Antti W — 07 Feb 2009

2046 is an interesting, but bewildering, film. One ought to watch it at least twice just to keep pace with the leaps in time and story, but it's precisely that challenge that makes the movie enjoyable. If you can keep up, it's not a happy story to say the least. I was lost in the main character and only later found out that this is part of a loose trilogy with fairly tenuous continuity (in a traditional sense).

This is the third or fourth movie I've seen in which Ziyi Zhang plays a prominent role. I have to say I like her a lot.
