Review of 2046 (2004) by Trevor O — 17 Mar 2009
An artistic meditation on love, the greatest of human emotions, that ranks alongside Jules and Jim, Gone with the Wind, and Faces as one of the deepest romances ever filmed.
This film was critically praised, but remains vastly underrated in the canon of film. One of the greatest films I have ever experienced.
The direction is amazing, the acting brilliant even with a language barrier between myself and the foreign dialog.
The film is to be viewed as an abstract collage, something to be devoured and experienced rather than just observed.
Excellent.
