Review of 2046 (2004) by Priyanka B — 26 Aug 2009
Wong Kar Wai's films are ephemeral things of beauty. The music, the setting, the costumes, they all delicately weave a luscious, melancholy and unforgettable atmosphere. The plot is a surreal trip through memory, love, loss and disappointment.
It's supposed to be a sequel of sorts to "In the Mood for Love" and there are similar characters, but more like the previous movie was a dream or delusion the main character had. Tony Leung manages to be lovable despite playing a womanizing cad.
All the characters fall in unfortunate love with each other, never quiet meeting in the middle.
