Review of 2016: Obama's America (2012) by Tripp M — 10 Nov 2012
Now that the election is over and Obama is in the presidential suite for another four years, I suppose his detractors are really pissed off. Still though, from a film maker's point of view, this film is pretty bland and doesn't seem very focused.
The fact that 76% of this audience liked it is even more baffling unless of course they are all members of the GOP and looking for some negative stuff to throw at us just in case Obama was not re-elected.
From a documentary film point of view, the music was so poorly mixed at the beginning of the movie so it needs a re-edit. But I wouldn't even recommend it. Once I heard D"Souza declare the Dartmouth Review as an eclectic and defining global moment in Dartmouth College's long history, I was reminded of how awful the Reagan era was and how the Dartmouth Review was a racist, homophobic almost Nazi like newspaper written by a bunch of neo-cons.
This film is trying to make an argument but it fails miserably and now that the election is over, it makes the filmmaker look even more out of touch.
