Review of 2012 (2009) by Dave M — 11 Feb 2013
Director Roland Emmerich takes his patented disaster to the globalest scale. The result is cheesy, overlong, and pumped full of eyegasms. With a run time of two hours and forty minutes you wonder why there would be so many subplots that went no where and have zero emotional impact.
I could have done without the two jazz musicians on the cruise ship, and used that time to sooner make fun of the movie as soon as the credits began to roll (with a Glambert song chiming in the background.
.. cringe). Between the unnecessarily long establishing of characters in the beginning all the way to the thirty minute long dogshit ending, there was a disaster movie that had some cheap but fun excitement and great special f/x.
If you do plan on seeing 2012; arrive late and leave early. You won't miss a thing.
