The Mayans said that last Friday, the world was going to end. What they didn't see, aside from the fact they were wrong, was that Rolland Emmerich would craft a memorable movie depicting the prophecy unraveling.

2012 is an awesome movie. It has amazing CGI effects, as well as characters that we remember for their bravery and/or stupidity. It is also a reminder of what being human means. My only complaint are the blatent inaccuracies in this movie.

First off, 12/21/12 is (was) on a Friday, and it was Saturday in the movie. The next inaccuracy in this movie is the lack of Christmas decorations or cheer shown by the characters. True, it was a disaster film, with a moderatly grim tone (Banned in North Korea for depicting the 100th anniversary of their founder's birth negatively), but come on, a tree in the corner, or the kids being excited for Christmas, or even some decorations in the other places would have been a decent addition.

All in all, 2012 is a great disaster movie, and is even more fun to watch now that we know 12/21/12 has passed, and that we're still here. Watch it to remind yourself of what to do if the Mayans were simply off, or if another apocolypse shows up and actually goes down.
