Review of 2012 (2009) by Emily B — 22 Sep 2015
A cluttered and bloated mess of anti-logic and mindless destruction. I found myself able to criticize every single scene, only able to find a single redeeming factor in Chiwetel Ejiofor. I have no respect for a movie that thinks it's alright to root for a character simply because most of he story is told from the and not because they deserve it, as is the cair view, as is he case here with Cusak's horrible lead stereotype.
The movie just goes on and on, introducing more and more tediously, empty caricatures. What's Hollywood's deal anyway? When did it become okay to kill characters simply because they do something less than admirable, or because they are in the way of the main character achieving his goals? It's despicable; but on the plus side Hollywood's fetish with disaster movies and the empty killing seems to be over! Did I mention the bad CGI and entire lack emotional resonance? Basically there's a million things wrong with this movie.
