Review of 2012 (2009) by The Critic ( — 30 Jun 2013
Spectacular computer-generated special effects intertwined with a limousine trying to make itself through a crumbling city is the highlight of this silly end of days caper. But that takes place, after a mediocre dialogue-driven opening act, in the first half of the film and sets the tone for what's to come.
John Cusack manages to keep a straight face through the proceedings and is in fine form as the hero of the piece, with a scene-stealing Woody Harrelson in a supporting role. '2012' is OK as far as popcorn entertainment goes, but the dialogue is painful and most of the characters aren't likeable enough for us to care about what happens to them.
