The mother of all disaster movies (and the father, and the extended family) spends half an hour on ominous set-up scenes (scientists warn, strange events occur, prophets rant and of course a family is introduced) and then unleashes two hours of cataclysmic special events hammering the Earth relentlessly. Roland Emmerich's 2012 provides plenty of visual thrills. With action sequences that come thick and fast and jaw-dropping visual effects, 2010 is the mother of all disaster movies. There's a whole world of destruction going on in the film's ridiculously excessive special-effects sequences. But there's a whole lot of entertaining going on, too. There's something to be said for a formula picture done almost to perfection. In 2012, Emmerich gives you everything you expect, but gives it to you bigger. This is an action-packed entertainment builds around efforts, not to prevent the destruction of the planet, but to plan for the continuation of the human race. God forgive me, but I enjoyed the nerve-racking silliness of this newest, loudest exercise in destruction. Don't miss the biggest event in history - the end of the world dosent happen twice!

VERDICT: "High-Quality Stuff" - [Positive Reaction] This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theatre to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent... (Films that are rated 3.5 or 4 stars).
