Review of 2012 (2009) by Nathan S — 16 Nov 2013
I had really wanted to see this film when it came out as I thought it looked like an amazing blockbuster! Finally had the chance to see this the other day and wow...how disappointing. The storyline started pretty poorly and it took me a good 15 minutes to actually get into the film.
When it finally started to kick in a little it was obviously that there was absolutely no chemistry between any of the characters. The acting was cheesy and childlike, and I felt no emotion for the characters at all.
Jackson on paper is a man whos family has been tore apart, his ex wife is with another man, hes a talented writer, a hero who saves his family and thousands of people! In actual fact hes a character who instead of making me feel awe struck was actually very weak, and I wouldn't of minded if this so called 'hero' had of perished within the first 10minutes of the film.
The amount of money this film had to spend was all spent on high paid actors who under performed and huge graphic effects which were more laughable than anything. It just made no sense throughout and Roland Emmerich let himself down on this one.
