Throughout his career, I have only enjoyed one Roland Emmerich film which was "The Patriot". I have always disliked his films due to his reliance on visuals and horribly written dialouge. 2012 is no exception.
This is a cliche fest filled with plot holes and one inconsistency after another. Sure the visuals are nice, but when you look into the substance, you dont get much. There are way to many mind-numbing set-pieces that go on far longer that they have to.
Once again Roland Emmerich shows us that he is a talentless hack as he heavily relies on the visuals to make up for the lack of substance. When it's comes down to it, 2012 is just a run in the mill disaster flick.
The movie is filled with cringe-worthy dialouge and it's almost 3 hour run time is just exhausting and tires you out rather than entertain you. If you are not a fan of Emmerich's films, I highly suggest you skip this one as it is cliche, cheesy, and plain stupid.
