Review of 2012 (2009) by Michael P — 10 May 2013
A film that got a lot of people scared about the possible end of the world in 2012; even though it's even more scientifically inaccurate and impossible than The Day After Tomorrow. Once again effects are good, there is I must admit an awesome scene of the family driving through a crumbling L.
A in a limo. There is a subway that lines up perfectly with a petrol station, hits it, and then blows up spectacularly. Both awesome and laughable. I didn't mind John Cusack's performance either.
But again this is Emmerich's excuse to make a movie so that famous landmarks can be destroyed. It's an example of how sloppy and ineffective filmmaking can be and any future filmmakers should not be using him as inspiration at all.
