A good example of overcompensation. Everything that 2001 overdoes for grandeur's sake 2010 has too little of. In spite of some great special effects, most of the film feels very low budget and plain.
Worse, the effort to pull the hallucinogenic plot of 2001 into something coherent just results in underwhelming predictability. I guess we're stuck between a rock and a hard place with these movies.
