Review of 2010 (1984) by Adrian W — 24 Apr 2008
It isn't anything like 2001. It simply tries to tell its story in a straightforward way, without being primarily about mystery and style like Kubrick's film. It's certainly not without its merits though.
The special fx are very good, the tense moments are well done, the story ain't bad (if not dated) and it's well acted. It's the movie version of Clarke's novel, not a Kubrick masterpiece.
