If you enjoyed 2001 or saw the movie and was confused but want to know what in the world was going on, this sequel may help a little. All it does is advance the story a little bit and throws a few solutions to questions you may have had after the first one.
Like the first movie though, it is also slow, but in a different way. Just a warning though, this movie only continues the story. It doesn't end it...yet. The books 2061 and 3001 are the last two in line in the four book series.
Just no movies have been made of those two books yet.
