Roy Scheiders awful voiceover nearly ruins it, but other than that this is a worthy follow up to the best sci-fi film ever made. Arthur C. Clarkes participation in the production is obvious and scientific accuracy is paramount - one of the joys is watching the astronauts perform space walks above Jupiter, Air braking in its atmosphere and playing with zero gravity pens.
It all seems imminently possible which is what makes it so wonderful.
