Review of 2001 Maniacs (2005) by Shane R — 16 Apr 2007
Going into this film I wasn't expecting a whole lot. The one thing that I did know about this film was that it was a pseudo remake of the Herschel Gordon Lewis film Two Thousand Maniacs. This is the first film that Eli Roth's company Raw Nerve has produced. This film follows a group of college students during spring break on their way to Florida. The only problem is that they have to drive through the "dirty south" which causes all kinds of problems. They stumble upon a town that is lost time so to speak. Robert Englund plays the mayor of the town and they decide to stay for the blood and guts jamboree which was not a wise decision..
.
This is by no means a perfect horror film if there is such a thing. This film has everything you could want out of a horror movie engaging far fetched story, interesting death scenes and a great performance from Englund..

Any one with even a passing interest in horror should check this film out..
