Remake of sixties gore film Two Thousand Maniacs, which works surprisingly well. Updating its cast to reflect modern society (basically adding African Americans & homosexuals) , but keeping in the senseless, vomit-inducing gore, while putting more focus on the dark comedy & better acting (though in some cases, not by much), makes this film much like the original: not a good film, but a good piece of trash.
At any rate it was popular enough to spawn several sequels.
