Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Kyle H — 30 May 2014
If you plan to watch it for the sake of being entertained, look elsewhere. If you plan to watch it for visual splendor and philosophical insight, you're in for a treat. This is one of the few films that gives its audience something to chew on and doesn't fill in all the gaps.
It brought moviegoers back to the silent era, allowing the visuals to do the talking rather than the dialogue. If you notice how dialogue-laden films were before this, you'll realize how innovative it was, and why it's heralded by many critics to be the best science fiction film of all time.
