Quite simply, the most incredible, awesome, majestic, magnificent visual feast ever committed to celluloid. With special effects that remain unparalleled to this day, in cinematic terms this wasn't so much a small step for man but a giant leap for mankind.

It set the bar impossibly high for all subsequent sci-fi movies, and in my opinion, has yet to be rivalled. I've only ever seen 2001 on the small screen, but I can hardly begin to imagine the effect this movie had on cinema-goers of the late 60's. An awe inspiring totally hypnotic experience.
