4/4.
Astronauts discover a strange monolith on Jupiter's moon and their mission is compromised by the ship's brilliant computer system HAL 9000. A milestone in American movies. Hypnotic, majestic, and staggeringly subtle. Kubrick's masterpiece is his best, and the greatest of all science fiction films. Kubrick's Visual Effects Won an Oscar. Geoffrey Unsworth and John Alcott did the phenomenal cinematography.
