Review of 20 Feet from Stardom (2013) by Brian O — 14 Apr 2014
Interesting from a music history point of view.... but I found that it ruined it a bit by portraying these peoples lives as being unfulfilled just because they didn't become Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston.
... I mean is that really the goal of their lives..... it seemed to me that they were all actually far more successful than most people who try to make a living from music.... like saying a golfer in the top 100 is a failure just because he didn't become as rich and famous as Tiger Woods.
... if what they wanted was money and fame then I don't feel sad for them..... if what they wanted was to make a living from doing what they love.... then they kinda got that....????
