Review of 20 Feet from Stardom (2013) by Justin F — 12 May 2014
Maybe it was the age gap or music gap that kept me from loving this movie. Whatever, it was 20 Feet From Stardom was just ok. I mean sure, they got some excellent singers and wonderful women who sang on some great records, but the stories were all jumbled together and the emotion they expressed was hard to feel.
However, this movie does document some background singers who were instrumental in making music what is is today. And because of these ladies the movie was excellent. The actual documentation of what occurred is what I had trouble grooving with.
I guess I also struggled feeling much sympathy for the women, because they all wanted to be a solo artist and they failed to find enough joy in singing background vocals. So many people would kill for their job and they were ungrateful in many ways.
Still, a good watch for any movie fan.
