Review of 2 States (2014) by Avneesh M — 14 May 2014
2 State's is decent entertainment, and might I dare say, was even educational for me to an extent. It's interesting to see how these two youngster's deal with the challenges that arise between engagement and eventual marriage coming from conservative Indian families.
It helps that the two leads are convincing with Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt turning in fine performances and having good on screen chemistry. The supporting cast is good as well, and the occasional joke is welcome.
However, the overlong running time of 150 minutes and unnecessary songs, none of which are memorable play spoilsport. Sometimes, the same conflict is repeated and it again gives the feel of the movie being dragged out.
And while the movie thrives on crafting a real story, it sometimes loses that with some very unreal convenient scenario's. Nevertheless, a good film worth watching once.
