Review of 2 States (2014) by Edmund C — 10 Jan 2015
A well-made movie with an understated and delicate tone (including its music). Drama is present but it's never over-the-top, despite the context of in-laws clashing in an inter-community marriage, between Northern Indian, Krish and Southern Indian, Ananya.
And... get this, it's based on the true story written by Chetan Bagat about his own wedding! The first half hour and the last half hour were of noticeably different tones than the middle chunk though, the former depicting the couple in collegey flirty and secular mode, while in the last part, Krish's harsh and hitherto absent father begins to soften and steps in to be involved.
It just shows how one person in a family can literally affect everything..when he starts to be present.
