Review of 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) by Caleb N — 27 Apr 2013
2 Fast 2 Furious has many issues, primarily the fact that the plot is seamlessly a minor rehash of it's predecessor in terms of characters and the fact that muscle man Vin Diesel is no longer taking place in the action, but luckily the when there isn't senseless dialogue there's a story that successfully plays it's street racing themes into a more action packed scenario and doesn't make Paul Walker go at it alone because he gets teamed up with the badass Tyrese Gibson to assist him in the killer action, so it's a significant improvement over it's predecessor even though it still has similar issues.
But the action is solid and more important to the plot rather than some complex crap that would confuse the simple minded viewers that get a kick out of viewing films of this calibre, and it displays the fact that even a simple minded film like The Fast and The Furious can play over into the crime drama genre well, even with a few clinks. And Eva Mendes gave a decent performance and covered the sex appeal side of the story without problem.
So 2 Fast 2 Furious is an improvement over its predecessor and is a good sign for the future of the series.
