Review of 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) by Jamie R — 29 Jul 2013

'2 Fast 2 Furious' shows the return of Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker), who has fled to Florida, and teams up with an old friend, Roman Pearce (Tyrese "Tyrese" Gibson), Tej Parker (Chris "Ludacris" Bridges), and Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes) to take down a drug lord.

Like it's predecessor, '2 Fast' is low on story, but high on chasing and racing. With an improved budget and more sleek effects, the races look cleaner and the CGI better. The addition of Roman and Tej (Who's name is just Ludacris. Get it?) adds a more light and fun feel to the series, and it's a lot more over the top, which can be fun at some points but can also be stupid.

Although the film somewhat differs from the first, the basic story is more or less the same and the character development is thin. Getting back to the over-the-topness, well, if you though the part in the first where Dom (Vin Diesel, who isn't in this one) flips and completely crashes-and survives-was crazy, then you'll be surprised when watching this one, there's cars crashing into boats, guys with home arrest anklets who leave the country without any hassle, ejector seats, and Brian (Paul Walker) still being a cop even though he isn't one but is again in the 4th one anyway, and it's all very improbable.

So, all in all, '2 Fast 2 Furious' (Which, by the way, is a ridiculous title) both improves on the original and can be lesser to it, but if it's cars and stunts you want, here you go.
