This is a good effort from Julie Delpy. There is a lot to like about this movie. But overall, this movie has a wildly disjointed tone that, I guess, was thought to work. However, it cheapens the possibly tender moments when some off-the-wall reaction is played for reality. I?ve heard that this is very close to the reality of Julie Delpy, but I think they probably shouldn?t have tried to cram an adolescence full of jokes into one script.
But I like the potential of Delpy as a filmmaker. There is a great feel for presentation to her and, although she was the lead and she was acting with friends and family, the performances are very good. One thing I didn?t care for much was that it is not scenic to Paris at all. Still, not bad.
