Review of 2 Days in Paris (2007) by Mark S — 17 Jun 2012
This gets compared a lot to Before Sunrise/Sunset, which is perhaps not that surprising given its lead actress and the obvious matching theme of a French and American couple in Europe. But whereas Richard Linklater's two masterpieces are full of heart, I would say Julie Delpy's own stab at a similar kind of film is full of cynicism.
Whether it be the unlikeable lead actor she shares the screen with; the seeming lack of any real love and warmth between a couple who have supposedly been together for several years yet have no chemistry together; or the vulgar nature of the script; I found this a sad bastardised alternative to two films I love.
