Review of 2 Days in New York (2012) by Andrew P — 27 Nov 2012
A very charming romantic-comedy, that actually has both elements of romance and genuine comedy - very rare in a Hollywood rom-com! I haven't seen 2 Days in Paris (the supposed 'prequel'), but it's not necessary to understand the plot.
Chris Rock is amazing in this - he's caring and charismatic, not just hyper like his stand-up - I'm pretty sure he doesn't yell once! Julie Delpy (the writer/producer/director/star!) is great too and it feels like a normal relationship, in so far that there's no such thing as an 'average' relationship, they're all unique.
Obviously, New York plays a part, but the main characters and how they interact - like any family, a little crazy! - are the main focus of the film and it all works really well.
