Review of 1941 (1941) by Jeremy M — 22 Jul 2008
Spielberg in the director's chair, a script co-written by Robert Zemeckis and a sensational comedy cast but, mostly due to studio politics, this was one great BIG FLOP! A shame because this is a genuinely funny film, full of outrageous stupidity and over the top action sequences.
I can see why most would consider this a total failure, especially from Mr. Spielberg, but watched in a silly frame of mind this is up there with his best. Aykroyd, Belushi, Candy, Beatty, Pickens and Williams all entertain.
However, Eddie Deezen outshines them all and would have stolen the show if it wasn't for the even greater comic genius of his own ventriloquist's dummy!
