Review of 1941 (1941) by Grayson D — 02 Oct 2009
If I had to pick one Spielberg WWII epic to watch over and over it would be 1941. Belushi is at his cartoonish-best, Ackroyd delivers machine0gun dialogue, dance scenes, u-boats. What is not to like? The plot isn't sophisticated.
The cinematography is not complex. You can see some of Spielberg's later work around the edges. You can also see his sense of humor shining through. The scene where they check Belushi for stilts because he might be a spy is comedy at its best.
From Sim Pickens to Christopher Lee 1941 is packed with cameos and the cast is remarkable.
