Review of 1922 (2017) by Jon C — 21 Oct 2017
Nothing to scary in this one but an exceptional performance by Thomas Jane.
During the roaring 20's he plays a farmer with a wife and a son.
He wants to stay where he is, she wants to sell the farm and move away.
Feeling that a man's pride in his life is his land Wilfred James feels the only way to have what he wants is to murder his wife.
His son aids him in the crime and it seems like everything is okay but of course as Wilfred points out sooner or later we call get caught.
The guilt and the horrors of atrocities committed always follow us wherever we go no matter how much we bury them.
There's some creepy images spread throughout but the movie never manages to make anything immensely scary.
For this particular story it's more psychological/drama-based.
Maybe it'll appeal to some but I was expecting a lot more.
One of the weaker Stephen King adaptations just in my opinion.
