Review of 1917 (2019) by Dollar_376 — 22 Jan 2020
Possibly the best war movie since Saving Private Ryan, a milestone for cinema in technical terms that works in favor of the movie, adding to the immersion. By the end, it felt like I had been part of this emotional and frenetic journey.
Amazing cinematography, permorfances, score and art direction. There is a lack of character depth, following the line of Dunkirk, but it doesn't affect the connection with the movie in any way. Try to watch it in the biggest screen you can, you won't regret it.
