I had no idea what the story was about before going to the movies. After watching this film I've become more educated on the history of China. Yes, this is a historical film and from the looks of it, it seems quite accurate because of the very small details in the set and props.

It's about China's Revolutionary War on how they overthrew the monarchy and turned it into the Republic of China as we know today. At the beginning it was confusing because you don't really understand what's happening.

But here's a simple rule you can tell who are the good guys and the bad guys. The people with the long ponytails are the bad guys (monarch). There was a lot of gun shooting in this movie and only one very short fight scene in typical Jackie Chan fashion who people pay money to see.

But nonetheless, this movie is quite different from your regular Jackie Chan movie. You can sense the mood to be serious throughout. Jackie Chan did some serious good acting for his 100th movie. I can truly say for once he deserve an Oscar for this.

The big issue I had was that the subtitles were moving too fast. Also, there quite a number of characters in the film which make learning names extra hard; especially when a character is talking about another person, it makes it difficult to understand who they are talking about unless you have a great memory on who's who.

I only recommend this movie to people who are interesting in learning about China's history.
