Review of 1776 (1972) by Noah R — 04 Jul 2009
Proof that a good theatre director does not a good film director make. The stage show can be quite fun in spite of its corniness but the film plods along for three interminable hours, the acting is unbearably ham-fisted, and the musical numbers hardly seem directed at all.
On the plus side, William Daniels is solid and my grandfather is in it as George Read so that's always fun.
