Review of 17 Miracles (2011) by Melissa C — 16 Sep 2011
A contrast to the Donner Party who Levi Savage (Jasen Wade) witnessed for himself when winter, starvation, and despair would make men and women like ravenous wolves. The Martin-Willie Handcart Company should have been like the Donner Party or worst since they were even more destitue of supplies and tools to survive.
The miracles ring true, how else could they have survived, as ordinary people, under prepared, out of their experience, walked over a thousand miles and more to Zion and something extraordinary happened to help them make it.
We would do well to remember the tender mercies of the Lord in our lives to sustain us to keep moving forward and when we can't to endure as rescue comes to help us continue on until we comes home, or if need be even at the cost of our lives.
I will remember this movie for a long time and pray I can have the same strength they have demonstrated in their devotion to their families, liberty, and their God.
