Review of 16 Blocks (2006) by Bob L — 14 Dec 2011
An interesting premise with an intriguing cast, including Bruce Willis and Mos Def, pulled me in, but overall the film failed to deliver. I was anxious to see Mos Def in a more central role as he was terrific in "The Italian Job" and he doesn't disappoint, turning out a memorable character.
Bruce Willis also does a admirable job as an alcoholic flatfoot with a sudden change of conscience; however, the plot lacked any punch towards the end. Word of advice: sometimes stories are better without a happy ending.
Personally, I thought that the flawed characters in the film, Willis and Def, deserved a flawed ending.
