Review of 16 Blocks (2006) by Christina B — 27 Mar 2012
Worn out, waiting to retire detective comes face to face with the moment of truth decision. In the bar when he, and we, understand the underlying plot, standing there taking it all in while David Morse oozes his common sense like silk over satin, with Bruce as expressive as a Rodan sculpture the story takes it's turn in the 3 ~ 4 inches of putting the bottle of Canadian Club back down on the bar and we know Bruce Is On The Job and some Die Hard action is about unfold.
Mos Def could not be replaced in his part, playing opposite Bruce they become a dynamic duo as solid as Aykroyd/Belushi, Gibson/Glover, Grant/Firth, you want them to work. Underrated.
