Willis and Def make a less than perfect team for taking on a band of corrupt cops in toe, but their frayed partnership pays off thanks to convincing performances that actually bring weight to the task of making it to court without being killed.
The film keeps the safety on when necessary, with the characters evasion of the law paying off with better suspense than during a bout of open firing. David Morse is entirely unlikeable, and genuinely contendable - a stand out in the film as someone who most definitely exists commonly in the real world.
