Review of 15 Park Avenue (2006) by Prashant W — 27 Nov 2010
Where do I begin with this movie...so many things to discuss. First, I really was not happy with the ending...the entire movie was based on the reality and difficulties of dealing with a schizophrenic patient and the choices/dilemmas that arise out of that, but seriously what was the point of jumping dimensional barriers.
The acting overall was quite impressive by Shabana Azmi and Konkona Sen Sharma. Everyone else just needs to go back to the drawing board. Rahul Bose may have been pulled down due to his character, which was completely useless. Shefali Shetty and Waheeda Rehman merely wanted to add soapy drama to the mix, most of which required eye-rolling and/or a fast forward button.
The discussions with the doctor were interesting, but otherwise the subplot with the doctor was pointless. Also, what was the point of including Soumitra Chatterjee's role in the movie? I understand the writer wanted to show the conflict of balancing personal wants with responsibilities, but seriously.
All in all, I appreciated the uniqueness of this film. Other than that, I would not waste time on it.
