Review of 15 Minutes (2001) by Ben F — 13 Jan 2010
It kept me entertained long enough, but "15 Minutes" had way too many faults for it to be an all around good film. It could have been way better if just a couple of things were fixed.
This movie is just a chase the bad guys/detective film. The plot seemed a bit interesting, but over time it got very boring. Towards the middle of the film, a particular scene got me not interested, and I really just wanted to turn off the movie.
I think that the one particular thing that ruined the movie was the dialogue between the Eastern Europeans. In the first twenty minutes of the movie, the music that is playing while they are talking is way to positive for me to take it seriously, and it made the movie seem like a comedy, when it wasn't. Some of the things that they said to each other just made me sigh, and be like "why....just why.".
The acting in the movie (Besides the two Eastern Europeans), wasn't bad and wasn't anything special. Robert De Niro did a good job as he always does, and I guess Edward Burns did a pretty good job as well. The dialogue that went on between them kept me in my seat, so that basically saved the movie all together.
I really think that the film could have been a lot better if they took out the Russian/chec thing and just ran a film about two crazy guys, and had everything else from before. I really think that would have been a better movie. It just seems like really silly to me....
So overall, this movie was pretty ridiculous. It had a couple of moments, but "15 Minutes" failed to deliver anything special whatsoever.
