Review of 1408 (2007) by Liam C — 22 Oct 2012
*Saw the alternate ending* Very solid film. Seeing as how long it is, I didn't expect it to hold my interest seeing as how it all takes place in a room, pretty much. John Cusack was brilliantly cast and as he is in every scene, it had to have been interesting.
He gets angry, depressed, hysterical and determined and none of it comes off as fakery. It feels genuine and thats a sign of a perfect actor. It was a good film and did what it set out to do, but I wasn't scared once and thats probably just because horror movies don't really scare me, although this is more of a psychological thriller.
Granted, I did get wrapped up in its story and I was worried for Cusack's safety. I liked one of the plot-twists near the end, you think one thing happened and something else happened. I was about to get angry with the movie but then it changed and didn't do what I thought- you will know this when you see it.
