1408 stands out from all the either vague and clishé or bloody and gore-filled horror movies we keep being fed. It's drags the viewer in from the first minute Cusack steps into the room and doesn't let go until the credits roll.
The movie doesn't have some stupid plot twist at the end and is genuinely frightening!
